Where Husky fans come together

GO DAWGS

Put a Bow on it

The Huskies recruiting is for the most part over. They  already have 30 players signed to their squad. Sarkisian mentioned there may be a player or two still available out there, but all of it is pretty much over. Here is a quick summery of what Sarkisian said about each of his recruits.

Huskies Land three in the last day

Lawrence Lagafuaina - Lagafuaina took a visit to Hawaii after committing to Washington and actualy gave a verbal to Hawaii. After a night of rethinking that decision, he recomfirmed his commitment.

James Atoe - The big offensive lineman gave his after visiting Washington. He is 6' 7", 325 pounts and will add some size to the O-line.

Cooper Pelluer - Cooper was planning on attending Hawaii, but a phone call from coach Sarkisian made him rethink. Only a couple hours after Sarkisian offered him a scholarship, he had decided he wanted to fulfill his dream to become a Dawg.

Keanon Lowe commits to Oregon

Keanon Lowe, after a visit to Oregon, has committed to his home state school. Lowe has said his dream was to play for Oregon and now that is a reality. Sadly in this case it is at the loss of the Huskies. Washington still has 29 recruits including three receivers in this years class.

Keanon Lowe schedules visit with Oregon

Washington commit, Keanon Lowe, has scheduled a trip down to Oregon. He will head down their tomorrow. Lowe seemed to have committed to Washington because we were going to allow him to compete for the receiver spot, but now Oregon has offered him the same thing.

Daniel Te'o-Nesheim will play in the East-West Shrine game tomorrow. Te'o-Nesheim has been impressing many NFL scouts in the practices leading up to the game. The game will be available on ESPN2 tomorrow at 12:00.

The only other Husky senior still playing is linebacker, Donald Butler. Butler is set to play in the senior bowl next week.

Huskies still have a few more to come

  • With only 12 days remaining until signing day, Washington will have three more players visit. Tomorrow they will host two prospects that have shown interest in the Huskies late. They are 4-star defensive tackle, Kirifi Taula, and 4-star safety, Sean Parker. Parker is ranked 6th best safety by scout.com and is ranked 7th by ESPN. Taula, who is currently a soft verbal to Arizona, is rated 30th by scout and will be taking his last visit to Arizona after he is here in Washington. The last visit to Washington will come from 4-star defensive tackle, Ricky Heimuli, who is ranked 10th best by scout. Even with 30 commits, the Huskies still seem to be trying to reel them in.

Huskies prepare to take on UCLA

The Washington Huskies have been on a roll this previous week and now they prepare themselves for UCLA. The game will be in UCLA this Thursday at 7:30 pacific time and will be available on FSN. Although the Bruins haven't had a particularly good season so far they have pulled off a couple of upsets and shouldn't be overlooked. Arizona State and California know what I'm talking about.

The Bruins season thus far has been full of, well, blowouts. Either they have lost big or won big. Their season has only had 5 games where one of the teams playing didn't win by 10 or more points.

The Huskies will have to continue to play with the same intensity on defense and on the boards that they have shown in the previous two games. The Huskies will need to capitalize when the Bruins pull their starters to have success. UCLA has trouble finding scorers off the bench and that is where the Huskies need to jump all over them. The final key to the game is, shooting free throws for a high percentage. Free throws are vital to the success of any team and on the road they are only that much more important. If the Huskies can continue to play the way they have as of late, there is no reason that they are more than capable of beating UCLA.

The Pac-10 was a crazy ride in 2010, packed full of upsets and excitement. Now that all of the bowl games have been played and all players going to the NFl have been established, a better projection can be established. Here is the Pac-10 projections for 2010.

Huskies add Portland State to their 2012 shcedule. Check it out on the schedules.

Player of the week awarded to Pondexter

Washington forward, Quincy Pondexter, won his third player of the week award this week. He played in two games against both Stanford and California. During the two games Pondexter had 52 points and 15 rebounds. He set his career high for field goals in a game with 12 against Stanford. He was definetly the standout player for the Huskies this week and throughout the year. He was with no question the leader as the Huskies blew out Stanford and California.

Nick Holts heads to LA

Nick Holt, the defensive coordinator for the Huskies, is heading down to LA to solidify some committments. Holt was seen at Sea-Tac International Airport before his departure. He said he was going down to California to put the finishing touches on recruiting.

Fouch transfers to Indiana State

Ronnie Fouch, after two years with the Huskies, has decided to transfer. He says the decision was based soley on playing time and not the experience at Washington. Fouch will go to Indiana state and have an immediate opportunity to play and that was why he has made this decision.

Huskies add to an already steller recruiting class.

The Huskies have pick up two recruits in the last couple days. Defensive end, Hauoli Jamora, out of Kahuku, Hawaii and cornerback, Gregory Ducre, out of Los Angeles, California. The Huskies are now rated the 7th best recruiting class by scout.com.

 Huskies win second straight blowout

Washington following their beat down on Stanford came out with the same intesity against California. The Stand outs were the usual Quincy Pondexter and Isaiah Thomas who combined for 45 points and 11 rebounds. The gaurd play was good racking up 11 assists to 5 turnovers. A key fact was the Huskies free throw shooting which was 83% on the day. MAthew Bryan-Amaning had a good day with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Huskies land a commit for 2011

The Washington Huskies have picked up an early commitment from running back, Brendan Bigelow. It seems like 2010 just started... and it has, Bigelow is the second earliest commitment in school history behind only Zach Fogerson. He has had a ACL injury late this season and will have knee surgery. It is suspected he will grayshirt his first year due to the injury.

Washington rolls past Stanford

Washington, after a three game losing streak, came out to play early against Stanford. In the first half, Washington held high scoring Stanford to only 22 points, while scoring 41 of their own.

The key to Washington's success in this game was great defense and rebounding. The Huskies out rebounded Stanford 42-33 including 20 offensive rebounds by the Dawgs. On defense they held Stanford to a season low in the first half and forced 20 turnover, which resulted in 25 Washington points. [Continue]

Nick Montana to sign early

Oaks Christian quarterback, Nick Montana, has said he will be able to finish school in time to enroll early. The meeting with the school councelor, has declared that he will be ready to sign by March 28, which is 1 day before the Huskies spring practices begin.

Montana has said he is excited for spring ball and has been especialy excited about being around Husky quarterback, Jake Locker. He was thrilled about Locker's return and showed excitement to watch and learn from him in the upcoming season.

Montana is one of four Washington commits who are expected to commit. One of them, running back Deontae Cooper, has already enrolled. The other two commits that are suppose to be enroll early are running back, Jesse Callier, and linebacker, Victor Burnett.

USC moves to Seattle

After, Steve Sarkisian, left USC to become the head coach at Washington, USC has had many changes in their coaching staff. What's interesting is where most of them have ended up. Numerous members of the USC staff have ended up in Seattle one way or another, if its the Huskies or the Seahawks. The list of coaches in Seattle includes: Nick Holt(Defensive coordinator), Pete Carrol (Head Coach), Jeremy Bates (Offensive Coordinator, Ken Nortan Jr. (Linebackers Coach), and Pat Ruel (Offensive Lines coach). Other training staff were amongst the names included.

USC decommitment has Washington on his list

Junior College standout, Brice Schwab, has listed Washington as one of many schools he shows interest in. Schwab was showing interest in other schools before Carroll's departure, but it was official he was going to decommit afterwards. Schwab is a 4-star offensive tackle from West Sunbury, Pennsilvania. He's 6' 8" and weighs 320 pounds.
